How Individualized Learning Leverages Technology for Deeper Learning: What School Could Be in Hawai'i MarketScale
This is an episode from Josh Reppun's "What School Could Be in Hawai'i," a podcast on the people, technology and methodologies pushing the mantle of education in the 50th state. Susannah Johnson is the founder of Individualized Realized, an education consultancy aimed at meeting educators where they are – as she did in the classroom with students for thirteen years – on the path to student-centered, authentic, globally minded, and liberated learning. In the move towards student-centered learning technology is essential for individualized learning. Over ten years developing a fully individualized program, the use of technology not only opens up learning to be multidimensional, but also for the asynchronous management of dozens of curricula. When students own their own learning, technology moves beyond learning tool to become a partner for that learning.
AI: Deeper Learning with Intel Omni-Path Architecture
Deep learning is a powerful tool that identifies patterns, extracts meaning from large, diverse datasets, and solves complex problems. However, integrating neural networks into existing compute environments is a challenge that often requires specialized and costly infrastructure. New software and hardware options will simplify the complexity. Intel Omni-Path Architecture (Intel OPA) is well suited to the demands of deep learning, enabling near-linear scalability across large numbers of nodes to provide fast time to results for large problems (see Figure 1). A key focus of deep learning implementations is to reduce the time to train the model and to ensure a high level of accuracy.
Monkware -- Deeper Learning
The subtitle of the very first science-fiction novel was "The Modern Prometheus". And for as long as humanity has coveted the Fire of the Gods, we've also worried about our ability to wield our new powers, and control our own creations. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is our latest gift of Promethean Fire. As Chris Dixon explains, it's likely we're entering a new Golden Age of AI. For decades, the foundations of our civilisation have been technologies that have been intentionally programmed by human minds.
